Thank you, my Twitter followers

It's a funny thing, having followers on Twitter. On the one hand, it seems self-regarding to be pleased when one's follower count goes up, but then again, having thousands of followers and appearing to disdain it, or moaning about it, seems a little disingenuous.

Twitter has its hierarchy, of course. I was thrilled to see how Stephen Fry picked up thousands of followers overnight, and I've enjoyed the way he has managed his Twitter interactions. Not everyone is as gracious.

So, what of my own followers? First of all, in common with everyone else on Twitter, I have my fair share of spammy types and auto follow-backs. But of course what's really interesting are the 'real' people, most of whom I follow back, or they followed me back, which is a genuine privilege.

Through them I've found new people to follow and yet more insights I would never have had otherwise.

So just for the record, and for no particular reason except 'thanks for the follow', here are the blogs of some of my lovely Twitter followers – all well worth a visit!
