Interesting stuff I’ve come across lately …

I haven't done this for a while, but here are a few articles and whatnot that have distracted me lately.

Plenty of controversy about at the moment, including Rhiannon Hill's pretty devastating judgement on the state of the British press. She seems to know what she's talking about and I'm can only too easily believe it, although I don't want to…

Yesterday, Google 'bouncing balls' logo had everyone a-twitter, even Stephen Fry who managed to crash a web page when he posted a link to it. Today Mashable tells us it's all about the announcement due today from Google on search results that change as you type. By the time you read this we should all have been enlightened.

Meanwhile Dave Allen ponders whether Foursquare or other location services will ever make the mainstream, because the problem with location technology is us… Whereas Tac Anderson suggests a future scenario when people will feel safer for checking in – intriguing idea.

Among the 'nuts and bolts' articles I've read lately is Dean Rieck's Smart Tips for Brilliant Writing and loved the tip (credited to Mark Twain – who else?) -"Substitute damn every time you're inclined to write very; your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be."

On that note I shall finish this damn short post and get back to work.
